Rattlerock Ultra 2022 Info

 

Rattlerock Ultra is a premier ultra event in Northern West Virginia. The race will include 50k and 25k distances on rocky, technical trails. The ultra distance boasts just under 6,000 feet of elevation gain—“More Gain, More Pain”—making it one of the toughest 50k races in the state. This event is organized by OFF THE GRID RUNNING, and will be held in the beautiful Coopers Rock State Forest. The mission of the event is to grow accessibility to friendly and quality ultramarathons in the area, while promoting businesses that local trail runners value.

DATE: Saturday, July 23, 2022

LOCATION: Coopers Rock State Park   61 County Line Dr., Bruceton Mills, WV 26525

START TIME: 6:30am 

CUTOFF: 9 hours (3:30pm)

SWAG: TECH TEE for all and FINISHER SUNGLASSES (must be earned). Items will not be mailed to runners who do not start.

MARKINGS: The course will be marked with extreme care, and it will be checked right before the event to ensure that no runner gets lost due to spaced out or missing markings or signs. The fact that the event is a loop race will help runners to feel more confident and familiar with each passing loop.

COURSE: A 7.9+ mile loop repeated 2 times or 4 times. The exact loop is a surprise this first year for locals and out-of-towners alike. This will level the unlevel playing field that's actually not a field but a bunch of rocks and trails waiting to be run on. Look over the Coopers Rock State Park Map, and you'll be as ready as anyone could never hope to be...

We won't be able to support DISTANCE-SWITCHING. I know a lot of you 25kers might be feeling great and just be dying to run twice the distance you signed up for, but...we can't officially do it.

ACCOMMODATIONS: Book camping with Coopers Rock State Forest or another nearby campground (Sand Springs, Chestnut Ridge Park, or pitch a tent rustic and free in Forbes State Forest in PA) separately from your race registration. Also, any hotel in Morgantown will not be far from the park.

CREWS: Crews may hang out at the aid station/start/finish to provide support for their runner, watch the kids at the playground, hang out with the dogs, listen to some tunes, etc. No pacers will be allowed. We do not want the trail to be overpopulated.

PACKET PICKUP: 5:00-6:30pm Friday evening at the start area. Or 5:15-6:00am on race morning.

DOGS: You may run with a well-trained dog on a leash that will not interfere with any of the other runners.
